A Grocery List

It’s times like these (when I’m waiting on a phone call, anticipating a departure, and watching re-runs of Top Chef) when I find the need to soothe my boredom with list-making. There’s something about adding a number to notes/quantifying a to-do or an item that releases my anxiety. It’s almost like a subconscious hierarchy I didn’t know existed, and when I put my needs on paper in list form my inner therapy reveals what I’m truly concerned with. More therapudic, is when I find these lists later, strewn on my floor or crumpled in my purse, and only certain items are crossed off in completion. It’s then that I discover how of all the things I think I need, only a fraction do I actually follow through with. I wonder what groceries won’t get crossed off this list.

1. Peanut butter (all-natural, no salt added) (If I have anything to say about it, we’re getting skippy… – Will)
2. Luna bars
3. Nectarines
4. Apples
5. Avocado
6. Olive Oil (extra virgin)
7. Salsa (mild)
8. Black Beans
9. Veggies
10. Dave’s Killer Bread
11. Frozen dinners
